Our Girls Are Thriving Because of Generous Donors Like You!
In our 13th year of supporting the girls and staff in Haiti, Hearthstone Village is so proud to see the growth and wellness of the girls in Haiti.
Reveil Matinal Orphanage is a family. A majority of the donations we receive goes towards creating a stable home environment where our students can thrive because of the support system that depend on donations. Our work is made possible by your aid.
Donations will go towards our General Funds account, which will fund the following items:
- Preparing three daily, nutritious meals
- Ordering monthly trucks of water for washing and cooking, and safe drinking water
- Supplying access to technology and the internet
- Providing individual bedding and other housekeeping supplies for each girl
- Supplementing any medical, dental, and vision costs
- Nurturing a secure environment with a staff that assists with the girls daily routines
Your Impact
Haiti is the most poverty-stricken place in the Western Hemisphere where less than 10 percent of the country’s entire population graduates from high school. The lack of access to education, as well as a nurturing space to strengthen their ability to flourish, is exactly what we aim to address.
As of 2023, we now have 9
girls in higher education classes at university or vocational classes
in addition to the 15 in kindergarten to high school grades. (Three (3) will graduate in June 2024 and hopefully joining our higher education girls pursuing a career of their choosing.)
These success stories are a direct result of the
girls’ support systems — the foundation for any resilient student.
Most of our donors give between $350 to $1000 a year to provide the education and nutrition for our girls at the Reviel Martinel Orphanage in the Delmas neighborhood of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Since our specific tie is to this community of girls in Haiti, it is for the future of Haiti that we do this work and invite you to join us as a financial supporter.
$25: food for 1 girl, 1 month, 3meals
$50: Food for 2 girls, 1 month, 3 meals
$100: Water delivery for 1 month, whole household
$250: Security staff for 2 months
$500: Household staff (8 people) salary for 2 months
$5,000: 1 month of basic household expenses for 31 girls and staff
Our Impact
Its well-documented that educating girls is key to ending the cycle of poverty. Educated adolescent girls are less likely to get married and have children at a young age and are less likely to contract HIV and AIDS. Empowered women become women who contribute to the health, education and well-being of their society. And, in Haiti, girls that attend school are less likely to be recruited into prostitution or sold into slavery. Our People
We are an all-volunteer board of seven women committed to educating and nourishing the lives of these girls and the staff. We are a part of this organization because we value the difference that education can make for girls’ lives and its resulting potential to reduce poverty.
We are as committed to supporting the staff as we are the girls. The all-Haitian staff provides nurturing, safety, educational support and supervision. They are the bedrock of the family and provide structure and high expectations that are behind the girls’ success. We pay each staffer a living wage.
Our Story
Since 2010 we have been continually improving the lives of this community and these girls. Since the girls are not adoptable, by Haitian law, we send them all to private schools in their neighborhood, so they interact with and become embedded in the success of their immediate community. Six girls have graduated from high school and two are in university in Port-au-Prince! Our efforts work because we focus on education, nutrition and a solid home foundation.
