Yes, I'll Show My Support for Educating Girls to End the Cycle of Poverty
As we celebrate over 10 years working with this community in Haiti, we are beating the odds!
In Haiti, only 10% of the ENTIRE population graduates from high school. And, because all schools are private, so few people even get to go to school. In orphanages, the situation is worse ... they get a little education on-site and when they are 18, they are often on the streets, unsupported.
We are #NotJustAnOrphanage!
We create opportunities for our girls to become new leaders in Haiti and to break the cycle of poverty. How?
- We send them to private schools in their neighborhood
- We hire tutors
- We support a home for them after they turn 18
- We are committed to supporting their entire education
- We are deeply involved in their education journey
In 2020, our first two of our girls got accepted to Quisqueya University in Port-au-Prince, after a rigorous application process, during a pandemic and civil unrest in Haiti.
Kentyna is enrolled in the School of Law (she hopes to become a lawyer) and Marceline in the School of Medicine (she wants to become a pediatric surgeon). These two are very dedicated and determined.
This proved that higher education was a possibility for the girls in the orphanage.
As of 2023, we have 10 girls in either university or vocational schools. Many of the higher achieving girls in the orphanage have higher education plans.
Don't miss your chance to become a part of this amazing community of success!
